Welcome Grant for Charity of the Year
15 December 2009
On 14th December, disability charity Enham was presented with a Community Grant for £250 by Sainsbury’s Superstore, Andover.
Enham is this year’s Sainsbury’s Local Charity of the Year.
The Sainsbury’s Community Grant Scheme is funded by sales of “Bags for Life” and it has been created to help charitable groups in the local community. Customers buying the bags are not only helping the environment but are also making a contribution to their community.
Both Enham and Sainsbury’s have enjoyed working in partnership: Enham’s Community Fundraiser, Liz Cosgrove said:
“We are most grateful for the community grant and it’s been a great year working with Sainsbury’s and to have had their support for a number of events and activities. Recently, for example, a team of Sainsbury’s staff calling themselves “The Andover Angels” did a tandem skydive with the Red Devils to raise money for our 90th Anniversary Appeal. Their commitment and enthusiasm has been inspiring.”
Sainsbury’s Store Manager Jane Stephens said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and it is important that we can do as much as we can to support it. As Enham is our local Charity of the Year, we were really pleased to be able to help out.”
