Healthy Recognition
26 January 2010
Café Enham in Omega Street, Portsmouth, was one of nine eateries in the city recognised by Portsmouth City Council in their Healthy Options campaign.
Portsmouth City Council’s Healthy Options Award scheme was launched last year to encourage local food businesses to provide healthier food choices by using fresh ingredients, decreasing the use of fat and ensuring good availability and range of vegetables. The scheme is designed to help consumers make an informed choice about healthy food when eating out, either in a restaurant or café or ordering takeaway meals.
Representatives from the nine food businesses were presented with their awards by The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, at the city’s guildhall. This included Tracy Robinson, our Supervisor in Café Enham. Tracy and the team were assessed against certain criteria on the principles of a healthy balanced diet, plus they achieved a satisfactory food hygiene inspection report from the Council’s environment department.
‘It’s great that Café Enham achieved this award' said Tracy. 'Café Enham is now allowed to display it’s healthy eating credentials on the café window, and we’re especially pleased to have been recognised in the first year of this scheme’.
