Enham's 90th Anniversary - a memorable year and thank you!

17 February 2010

Our 90th year comes to a close officially at the end of March.  If you recall, our aim was to raise £90,000 in our 90th anniversary year – and so far, we’re thrilled to say that we’ve surpassed our target.  To date (mid Feb) we have raised over £117,000!  As you can see our 90th Anniversary Thermometer is at bursting point!

Picture of balloons being launched into the air outside Winchester Cathedral Our 90th year kicked off with plenty of hot air, with the release of 90 splendid purple helium balloons outside the picturesque grounds of Winchester Cathedral on a cold, damp January morning in 2009.  The Mayor of Winchester released the balloons which made a wonderful sight as they soared high across the skies of Hampshire.

Various fundraising events took place throughout the year.  Individual efforts such as marathon running, retail partnerships with Sainsbury’s together with events such as the rodeo held in The Mall Marlands Shopping Centre helped to generate further funds.

Guests at the Gala Dinner at the Imperial War MuseumA highlight of the year was the 90th Anniversary Gala Auction and Dinner held in the presence of our Patron, HRH The Duchess of Gloucester, at The Imperial War Museum in London in November.   With a wealth of World War artefacts surrounding the glamorous dining tables and stylish guests, it was easy to be transported back to a time when Enham first began, in 1919.

Thank you to all of you for helping to make our 90th year memorable.  We now look forward to our centenary!  If you have any ideas for how to make our 100th a celebration like no other, please let us know!   Contact our Fundraising Team on 01264 345848.
