Clay Pigeon Shoot in Memory of dedicated supporter
14 April 2010
Waller’s Ash Gun Club in South Wonston hosted a clay pigeon shoot recently in memory of Enham supporter Cyril Atkin. Owners Peter and Hazel Corney generously donated the use of the club and this fun event pays tribute one of Enham’s most loyal supporters.
This yearly clay pigeon shoot in Cyril’s memory is organised by Liz Cosgrove, Community Fundraiser at Enham and Mark Leyton, a former Enham Computer Aided Design Student. It was a 50 Bird re-entry Trophy Shoot with the trophies sponsored by Williams Ewan of Winchester. This year we introduced a “Have A Go Stand” where novices could try Clay Shooting for the first time. This proved extremely popular with a steady queue forming all morning and several people vowing to take up the sport!
Amongst many old friends were Cyril’s wife Juliette, son Alistair, daughters Vicky and Julie who attended with many members of their families. The weather was perfect and the highest amount ever was raised at over £3,500! A special thank you to Claire Boyes of Barclays Bank and to everyone who kindly donated raffle prizes.
Liz Cosgrove, Enham’s Community Fundraiser said: “This is one of my favourite days in our events calendar and we hope the family agrees that it is a fitting tribute to a fine gentleman. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year”
