Enham's own Supported Living Team is presented with its SUSE Award
12 July 2010
On Monday 5th July Enham held a SUSE (Service User Seal of Excellence) Awards Ceremony at the United Church, Jewry Street, Winchester, and was honoured to receive its special guest, the Mayor of Winchester, Councillor Richard Izard.
Speakers included The Mayor, Alan Haggar - Strategic Commissioning Director for Wellbeing and Partnership at Hampshire County Council, Enham’s Chief Executive Mike Smith and Drac Williams - Assessor Trainer for Enham.
The Service Users Seal of Excellence (SUSE) is an Award given by people who use Supporting People services in Hampshire to organisations which have been recognised for their excellent standards and the Awards take place twice a year.
Enham's own Supported Living Team managed by Kelly Greenwood was among the recipients, and Kelly commented: "We are so pleased to receive this Award. It is through the hard work and dedication of the whole team, that we have been able to achieve this."
The SUSE Awards scheme has been developed by Service Users in Hampshire and the Supporting People Partnership, an organisation funded by Hampshire County Council, which aims to make sure people get the housing related support they need to live independently. Enham provides the training in how to be an Assessor of the Supported People Housing Services.
The training includes the following elements: Equality and Diversity, Assessment Criteria, How to ask Questions, Handling a Disclosure, Recording the Assessment, and Report Writing.
Service Providers of Housing Services in the county receive the SUSE Award if they provide an excellent service and pass an assessment based on the following criteria: Involvement of Service Users, Safety, Security and Wellbeing, Availability of Support and Links to other Services, and Environment and Resources.
On Monday both Enham clients who have passed their training and the latest Service Providers who passed their assessments, were awarded their certificates. The presentations of the certificates were made by the Mayor and Councillor Felicity Hindson from Hampshire County Council.
Sharon Manzur, Enham’s Direct Payments and SUSE Co-ordinator said: “Sadly this is the last SUSE Award Ceremony for Enham as we have reached the end of our 3 year contract and the service will in future be run by Hampshire County Council. I am very proud of the achievements of our Assessors, in passing their training and then going on to assess Service Providers in Hampshire. It is so important that people who use Supporting People services have a say in how the housing relating services they receive are provided and are involved in monitoring their standards.”
