Marathon triumph for Enham runners
15 April 2008
All six runners competing on behalf of disability charity Enham finished the London Marathon on Sunday 13th April. Even though the runners were soaked through in the first few miles, they carried on running through all weathers to finish and proudly collect their coveted medals.
Rob Hedges was the first of Enham’s runners to come through with an excellent time of 3 hours 25 minutes. This made him 3837th out of 34,000 runners that finished. Red Arrows pilot Flt Lt. Andrew ‘Boomer’ Keith, finished with a time of 4 hours 39 minutes hand in hand with his fiancée Emma Rhodes.
Enham runner David Inglis received emergency physiotherapy at the side of the road after 18 miles but was determined to run on despite his injured knee and still got home in a time of 5 hours 13 minutes. Dave was amongst 4093 runners receiving medical attention on the day but its not put him off and he has already said he wants to run again next year!.
Ben Sharman got a good time of 3 hours 40 minutes and Mark McManus ran in memory of his mother Sandra who worked for Enham for many years and despite an injury that nearly kept him out, finished in 7 hours. She would have been very proud of him.
Enham would like to thank all our runners for raising essential funds. All the runners had a target of £1250.00 and many have exceeded this. A great day was had by all as the atmosphere in London on the day was unbeatable.
