Kitting up for Kili

13 April 2008

Participants in the Enham Kilimanjaro Challenge took the opportunity to try on their expedition clothing and equipment when Blacks in Winchester invited them to attend a special fitting evening. Blacks, one of the high street’s best known names in outdoor clothing, has agreed to sponsor this important part of the kitting out to equip all the climbers with outdoor clothing to keep them warm and well-protected for the differences in temperature they will experience up the mountain. The staff carefully selected the full kit list for the team and fitted each member individually during the evening.

Gary Mason- store manager, commented, ‘It has been a great experience to help this group with there kit, they are showing real enthusiasm, and proving that anyone can achieve their goals’ The evening gave the team a great introduction to the expedition lifestyle – minus the weather and hills! The next time they will be using the kit in earnest will be in May on the Snowdon climbing weekend scheduled to run from the 9th to 11th May as part of the team training programme.

All of the Enham Kilimanjaro team attended, including James Smith of Enham who is one of the brave participants on this unique challenge for a team of disabled and non-disabled adults from Enham to climb Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in July 2008. All the proceeds from the Challenge are going to support the valuable work that Enham does.
