Enham's 90th Gala Dinner A Resounding Success
9 November 2009
Enham's 90th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Auction was a resounding success with over £35,000 raised and still counting.
In the presence of Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Gloucester GCVO, Patron of the charity, two hundred and fifty guests enjoyed a stylish evening at the Imperial War Museum London, with the chance to see some of the exhibits from World War I and II. The event included a champagne reception followed by dinner served in the Large Exhibits Gallery where guests dined while surrounded by an array of weaponry and equipment from historic war conflicts. The reception and dinner was followed by an eight lot auction and raffle run by Will O’Reilly, formerly of Christies. These have raised over £35k so far for the charity’s fundraising efforts. The evening ended with dancing to a retro style swing band.
Enham celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2009. Since the charity was founded in 1919, it has helped over 250,000 disabled and disadvantaged people enjoy a better quality of life, helping them to find work and be more independent.
‘This event took a great deal of planning, which was evident on the evening’ said Melinda Carey-Hock, Enham’s Director of External Affairs. ‘Our team created a spectacular evening which has already become a highlight of our 90th year celebrations’.
'Increasingly we’re developing our range of services across broader regions’ explained Rod Chamberlain, Chairman of Enham. ‘Our work is becoming more about personal choice and assisting disabled and disadvantage people in the community. Our Gala Dinner in London definitely put Enham’s heritage, aims and achievements firmly on the map’.
