Art at Enham

We run four sessions, over two mornings per week taking in up to 25 clients.

If you join us, using art as a means of self-expression, you will cover a range of activities to help you develop your artistic skills and creative ideas:

• Painting and drawing – to learn to depict scenes, people, or still life based on visual observation or through the sense of touch
• Observational drawing and painting
• Using imagination ie: to explore different art, media and styles to turn your ideas into a piece of art

Sometimes our clients sell a piece of work and this is an important step in developing an artist’s self-confidence in his/her work and ability.

Exhibitions of our Work

Library Exhibition pictureWe hold regular exhibitions of work both here, and in the wider community. We often work together around a theme to create an exhibition of work e.g. the "Dreamtime" exhibition was a collection of Australian Aboriginal Art inspired paintings, which we created to display at the performance of a play of the same name and theme (as mentioned in the Drama section). We have contributed to artwork on permanent display at our local theatre and have also created and painted a mural at a local infants school.

Other projects have included creating a collection 3D pictures called "In The Mind's Eye", which were designed with visually impaired people in mind. These incorporated texture, shape, vivid colour, sounds and smells, and were designed to be explored primarily through touch.

We also took part in a community project last year along with other local groups called "Dreams". Each artist was encouraged to think about their dreams, aspirations and hopes for the future and then create a piece of artwork to reflect this. The project culminated in a joint exhibition of everybody's work at Andover Museum, and resulted in several sales of artwork by the contributors from Enham.

Visits

We sometimes work with professional artists on projects, allowing our clients to gain experience of the different ways artists approach their work. We recently ran a trip to an exhibition at the Royal Opera Arcade in Pall Mall, where the clients were able to listen to the artist Blake talk about his work, his inspirations and his processes. We also visited the Tate Gallery, to allow our clients to explore a wide range of work by historically important artists.
