Enham celebrates 90 Years

2009 is a very special year for Enham as we mark our 90th Anniversary.

Since the charity was founded, it has helped in the region of 250,000 disabled people enjoy a better quality of life helping them to find work and be more independent.

90th Anniversary Appeal

This year Enham launched an appeal to raise £90,000 for projects to continue to help disabled people lead more independent and fulfilling lives, giving them equality of opportunity, and to develop leading-edge services for those who are in most need and often excluded from funded programmes. We would also like to expand our provision for younger disabled and disadvantaged people.

Appeal Update:  The good news is that thanks to your help, we have exceeded our target of £90,000!  As you can see the 90th Anniversary thermometer is about to burst - the current total stands at £105,999!

With these funds, we can really make a difference. However ,we are continuing the campaign and should you still wish to support us, you can. There are some fundraising ideas below, to get you started.

90th Anniversary Events and Fundraising Campaigns

The commemorations got off to a "flying" start as Enham launched 90 balloons into the air in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral on the 28th January.  Thank you to everyone who has joined in the various celebrations so far. The main event, our 90th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Auction, was a huge success, raising over £35,000 and we are still counting!  Read more about the Gala Dinner Event

Calling all businesses - Christmas is not far away and you might be thinking about sending Christmas wishes to your customers and business contacts.  With the growth of technology, many companies are choosing to send these wishes by e-mail, notifying their customers that they will be making a donation to charity with the money saved buying and posting cards. We should be delighted if you would consider making such a donation to Enham this year.

You could even set up a donation to Enham on a special anniversary day, important to you. Whatever you decide to do, Enham wants to hear from you!  If you wish to support Enham and the 90th Anniversary Appeal, please contact our Fundraising Department on 01264 345848 or 345800.

For your information:

Enham has changed a great deal since it was first founded. From its origins in Enham Alamein, Andover, as a rehabilitation centre for disabled ex-servicemen, it is now spread over ten counties in the South of England covering a range of services including Accommodation and Care, Supported Living, Personal Development, Learning and Employment programmes and Vocational Training.

It now has a client base with both physical and learning disabilities and includes young disadvantaged adults from the age of 14.

The charity Enham was founded in 1918. The estate was bought a few months later and the first servicemen started to arrive in 1919.
