Here is the original announcement of our property development from September 2008:
Proposed Property Development at Enham Alamein
The Trustees at the Enham charity for disabled people are preparing proposals for the development of land that belongs to the charity at Enham Alamein. A consultation was recently held with Officers and Members of the Parish and Borough Councils to inform them of Enham's proposals. Following this Enham is posting the full property exhibition on its website to help explain the component parts of the proposed strategy, timescales and the preferred process of implementation. A full public consultation will follow as soon as sufficient time has been allowed for the exhibition to be studied, and comments from the first round of consultations incorporated. This will probably be in the Autumn 2008.
Enham's rationale for the property proposals is based on:
- The charity's need to redevelop several large and disused buildings on the charity site and to refurbish some older property on the same site to make it fit for purpose for use by disabled people.
- An initiative to develop the village of Enham Alamein to make it economically stronger, more balanced in terms of private/affordable housing and disabled/non-disabled residents, and sustainable in its own right.
- The needs of disabled people to live in their areas of choice with better access to more facilities in urban locations in Test Valley.
The Trustees have stressed their wish to undertake any property development with care and sensitivity as they want to leave a legacy that both they and the local community can be proud to own. They have employed a planning and urban design partnership, Tibbalds to produce a plan that is both workable and fitting to the environment of a picturesque Hampshire village.
