Client Projects

Do you want to get involved in exciting real-life Projects on the Development Programme?

We hope that all our clients will participate in at least 6 projects whilst at Enham, which will help to continually develop transferable skills to take with them to enable them to live their lives as independently as possible and to be fully equipped to take on a meaningful role in the work place, whether paid, supported, voluntary or self- employed.

On each project, as one of our clients, you will  take ownership and have responsibilities for certain areas and as a team run your own committees,  who make the decisions on how the project will run and who will carry out which tasks. Weekly reports on the progress made is recorded and on some of the projects the skills achieved can be awarded national accreditation.

Along with various community projects working in the Enham Alamein village and beyond, with schools and other organisations, our most recent ones are:

• The “Lunch” Project – in partnership with the Enham Alamein Parish Council and Age Concern:
At the end of March (2008), a Lunch was served at the Landale Wilson Hall, Enham Alamein for guests in the local community. Training for the event was given to our clients including cookery, kitchen hygiene, literacy, numeracy and IT for the costing up and advertising of the lunch, and drama (role play).

• Enham-bay (ebay project) – whereby our clients sell unwanted goods on ebay on behalf of the wider community.  Please see the Karten Centre section for further details.

• Running of the Enham Oasis onsite staff facility. Clients involved on this project can learn stock-taking, cleaning and money-management.

• Enham Guest Room – Property Management
The guest-room in the village is let out on a regular basis. Clients manage the publicity, bookings, service the flats, carry out regular stock-takes and take the money.

If you join us, we will endeavour to fit the projects with certain aspects of your own individual Personal Development Plan and these are not just pretend situations, they are real and involve the management of money and dealing with the public, helping you to get on and make that transition to independence.
